I'm not sure I can put into words how awesome my hunt was with my long time friend and mentor Hayward Simmons at Pachitla Creek. I've always been open about my faith and relationship with Jesus, and I've been lucky to have more than a few times where I can say I've heard clear direction about things in my life. And like many hunters, I feel closest to God when I'm in the woods. It's always been my favorite place to pray and listen. I said all of that because I know some people may think I'm crazy but Hayward can vouch for my every word. That particular hunting trip was nothing short of a gift from God and a lesson in listening when he speaks to you! No coincidences, no explanation outside of Jesus! I've never hunted another place anything like it, I know what I'm about to say is crazy but I saw 37 bucks in 5 sits most of them were different bucks and I always sat in a different area. I saw 14 bucks in one sit the second morning but no shooters in bow range. I couldn't believe the size of some of the bucks I saw, the place is truly special. I could go on and on but if you're looking for an archery hunt don't sleep on this place and if you go, take advantage of your time with Hayward and ask some questions, he's very informative and loves to teach.
